In Tamil Nadu, the campaigning has gained momentum for the April 13 Assembly elections. AIADMK Cheif J Jayalalitha addressed several meetings in southern districts on Sunday. CPM leader Sitaram Yechury addressed a public meeting in Dindigul. AIR correspondent reports, one of the important districts of southern Tamil Nadu is Tirunelveli, where for ten assembly segments there are 124 candidates in the election fray. People of Tiruneveli have complained of the lack of proper industrial infrastructure and unkept promises for this region. The political atmosphere on the streets is the same as other places in the state. Without any poster, campaigning been going on with several meeting by star leaders in a day. Meanwhile, the election commission has conducted a training program for 3 and a half lakh government officials throughout the state who are taking part in the elections. The district wise flying squads are busy in their search and seizure operations while media monitoring units are working round the clock at the district headquarters. The polling officers are also on job providing voter slips. The strict restriction of the election commission has changed the mode of campaigning but also initiated discussion among people of cross sections.
