Campaigning for third phase of WB polls to end today

In poll bound West Bengal, campaigning for 62 Assembly seats will end this evening. The voting in these constituencies will be held on Thursday under the 3rd phase of polling. <br/>In all, 418 candidates including 70 independents are in the fray. <br/><br/>Only ruling Trinamool Congress, TMC and the BJP have fielded party candidates on all the 62 seats. Alliance partners CPI-M and Congress are contesting on 38 and 26 seats respectively. About One Crore 8 lakh voters are enrolled to participate in this round of polling.<br/><br/>Besides Uttar Kolkata, all the 3rd phase constituencies are part of Murshidabad, Nadia and Burdwan districts.<br/><br/>Leading politicians have campaigned for this phase. They included senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and several Union ministers including Raj Nath Singh, Uma Bharti, Smriti Irani and Babul Supriyo. After the Congress president Sonia Gandhi's campaign two days ago, party president Rahul Gandhi addressed three rallies for these seats on Monday. <br/><br/>Stalwarts of various other parties including the Left leaders and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee have also done extensive canvassing. The elections to the 294 seat West Bengal Assembly are being conducted in six phases, spread across seven polling days from 4th April to 5th May. The counting of votes will be done on 19th May.

Campaigning for third phase of WB polls to end today

Campaigning for the third phase of Assembly elections will end today in West Bengal. 62 constituencies spread over Uttar Kilkata, Murshidabad, Nadia and Burdwan districts, will go to polls in this phase on Thursday. <br/><br/>A total of 418 candidates including 70 Independents are in the fray in this phase. Only BJP and Trinamool Congress have fielded candidates in all 62 constituencies. <br/><br/>While CPM is contesting 38 seats, Congress has fielded its candidates for 26 seats. About one crore eight lakh voters will decide the fate of these candidates.
