Campaigning for Phase One of J & K Assembly elections ends

In Jammu and Kashmir, the campaigning for the first phase Assembly elections is going to end this evening. Polling for this phase will take place on 25th of this month. Various political parties have left no stone unturned to register victory on the 15 Assembly seats going to polls in the first phase.

Star Campaigners of contesting political parties including senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narender Modi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi have addressed election rallies in the favour of their candidates.

Senior National Conference leader and sitting Chief Minister of the State Omar Abdullha, PDP Patron Mufti Mohd. Sayeed and other leaders have also made every effort to woo voters in their favour.

Meanwhile during the scrutiny of documents for the 3rd phase of elections in the State, the nominations of 21 candidates have been rejected. With this there are 145 candidates left in fray from the 16 Assembly constituencies of Kashmir Valley going to polls on December 9. For this phase, tomorrow is the last day for the withdrawal of nomination papers.

In Ladakh region of Jammu & Kashmir, electioneering came to an end this evening at 4 pm. The fate of sixteen candidates for the four constitucies of Ladakh region will be decided on Tuesday. Political parties and their supporters have used all possible channels to woo voters in their favour before concluding their election campaigning. Meanwhile, process of dispatching polling parties and materials deployed at far flung areas of Ladakh situated at Indo-China and Indo-Pakistan borders areas have started from today. The first batch has left this morning for snow bound polling stations.
