Campaigning is reaching its peak for the fifth and the sixth phases of Assembly elections in West Bengal. Addressing an election rally at Sonamukhi in Bankura district, Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee charged the Left Front government with doing nothing for the region despite being in power for the last 34 years. She also claimed that the Trinamool and Congress combine has already got the requisite number of seats for government formation in the first four phases of elections. AIR correspondent reports that voting has already been complete in 242 seats out of 294 Assembly segments. The Left leaders, on the other hand, asserted that they alone can provide real development to the people and claimed that the Left Front will be able to form the government for the record 8th term. Thirty-eight seats in the Naxal-prone districts of Purulia, Bankura and West Medinipore including 12 in Burdwan will go to poll on Saturday, while in the final phase voting will take place on the 10th of this month in 14 seats of the Maoists-infected districts.
