Campaigning for Assembly polls begins in West Bengal

With the election schedule announced, campaigning for the state Assembly polls in West Bengal started on Saturday. Candidates and supporters of Trinamul Congress, TMC, have got an upper edge as the list of party candidates for all the 294 constituencies is already out. <br/><br/>While TMC workers began wall writings, supporters of Left parties, Congress and BJP started blocking prominent spaces for wall graffiti, earmarking them with party abbreviations. In absence of party candidates as the nominations are not yet announced, Left and Congress supporters also started to paint wall-spaces with symbols of their respective parties displayed jointly, indicating a probable alliance.<br/><br/>Meanwhile Left Front has complained to State Chief Electoral Officer against TMC, making a serving Police officer, Mr. Kujur a party candidate in the state Assembly polls. The officer, reportedly posted as ASP in Jalpaiguri, has been announced as a TMC candidate from Kumargram constituency . A Left Front delegation, led by CPI-M leader Rabin Deb, met the CEO in Kolkata on Saturday.
