Campaigning for 7th phase of UP assembly polls to end tomorrow

In Uttar Pradesh, the preparations for the seventh and final phase of assembly elections are in its last leg. Campaigning for this phase comes to an end tomorrow. The election for 60 assembly constituencies spread over 10 districts of western and terai regions will be held on Saturday.The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for peaceful polling. As many as 962 candidates including 100 women are in the fray.Several prominent leaders are in the area to woo the voters. BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Uma Bharati and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Singh Yadav have addressed several election meetings in the seventh phase areas today.AIR Correspondent reports, though the tiredness is clearly visible on the faces of top leaders but they do not want to miss a chance to woo the voters. The western part is also known as Sugarcane belt which has the issues of sugar cane pricing and development. The ruling BSP has its own vote pockets and had emerged as a largest party in the last assembly elections. The Congress-RLD combine, BJP and Samajwadi Party are banking largely upon the split of votes as there is no clear-cut indication in favour of any party. The election commission has reviewed the poll preparedness in the area and the security arrangements are already in place. With this phase, the poll process will be completed and the leaders and people will wait for 6th of march when the balloting units will be read to declare the winners.
