In Uttar Pradesh campaigning for phase six and seven has been intensified. AIR correspondent reports, Baghpat has been treated as strong hold of Congress ally Ajit Singh led Rashtriya Lok Dal. RLD had won all four seats in 2007 assembly elections. After delimitation of constituencies Barnawa and Khekhda seats have been lost their existence and one new seat Badaut has come out. A total of 43 candidates including 2 women are in fray from all three constituencies of the district. Congress has not fielded its candidates in any constituency and has extended support to RLD nominees. RLD had denied renomination of its two sitting MLAs and another MLA has been shifted to Ghaziabad district. Leader of RLD legislative party Kaukab Hameed Khan is trying his luck once again from Baghpat seat. BSP has changed its candidates while SP has fielded former MLA Sahab Singh against him. From Chhaprauli seat RLD has fielded a new face denying ticket to sitting MLA. From new segment Badaut, Samajwadi Party has fielded former MLA Dr. Ajay Kumar for multi corner contest. All major political parties have conducted intensive campaigning in the district to woo the voters.
