Campaigning for 5th phase of WB assembly elections to end tomorrow

he campaigning for 5th phase of assembly elections in West Bengal will come to an end tomorrow afternoon. The 5th phase of polls will take place in 38 seats spread over part of Purulia, West Midnapur, Bankura and Burdwan districts on next Saturday. Around 74 lakh voters will decide the political fate of 193 candidates. The Election Commission has appointed Mr. Debasish Chakraborty, Chief Election Officer of Maharashtra as special observer for 5th and 6th phase of elections. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that unprecedented security arrangement have been made at Maoist infested Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapur district to ensure peaceful voting. The state chief electoral officer Mr. Sunil Gupta today had a meeting with the administration of three districts to take stock of the situation.
