In Assam, leaders of different political parties have gone all out with their campaign to garner support of the electorates. The campaigning for the second and concluding phase of elections in the state will come to an end tomorrow afternoon.In this phase polling will be held in 64 assembly constituencies in lower Assam. AIR correspondent reports that stalwarts of the Congress, BJP, AGP,All India United Democratic Front ( AIUDF) CPI and NCP are making whirlwind tours in different parts of the constituencies to woo voters in support of their party candidates. The Congress President Sonia Gandhi cautioned people of Assam to remain alert against divisive forces in the elections in the state. Addressing election meeting in Guwahati today Gandhi refuted charges levelled by BJP to use Bangladeshis as vote bank in the state. She alleged that UPA government has taken step to stop infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals in Assam. Sonia Gandhi said that the BJP has no moral right to raise the issue of Bangladeshis because when NDA government was at the centre the then government had not taken any measures to stop Bangldeshis in Indian territory. Sonia Gandhi exhorted people to vote in favour of congress candidates to further speed up ongoing development work in the state. While addressing election meetings at Barpeta Senior BJP leader Varun Gandhi asserted that democratic revolution is a must as the election process has become a business where governments are formed in which the rich become richer and the poor become poorer. Asom Gan Parishad leader Brindaban Goswami clamed that the people of Assam are seeking an end to congress corruption and misrule. The Nationalist Congress Party general secretary Tariq Anwar said it was open to support any secular party to form government in Assam.
