In West Bengal, campaigning for first phase of Assembly elections in the state will come to an end this afternoon. Electioneering has reached its feverish pitch on last day today. The election will take place in 54 seats covering six North Bengal districts on next Monday. Our Kolkata Correspondent reports, preparation for conducting the election is nearing completion. Poll workers of 16 remote places in Darjeeling have already started for their destination . Altogether 364 candidates are in the fray for these phase of poll. Tight security measures are in place to ensure free and fair voting. Twenty-eight General Observers, nine Expenditure and three Police Observers are monitoring the elections process. Vigil along international and inter-state border has been intensified.
