In Gujarat, the electioneering for the first phase of polling in 87 Assembly Constituencies has been picked up with ruling BJP has organised series of public meetings in Saurashtra and South Gujarat. BJP’s leader in Rajya Sabha Mr. Arun Jaitley has claimed that BJP will come back to power for the 3rd Consecutive time in the state following all round development by the present Narendra Modi Government. Talking to media persons in Jamnagar, Mr.Jaitley said that Gujarat Parivartan Party- launched by party’s former heavy weight and former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel will not affect BJP’s poll prospect in the forthcoming elections. Senior BJP leader Mr.Rajnath Singh has praised the performance of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing series of public meetings in Bhavnagar district. Party’s another leader Venkaiah Naidu also addressed the public meetings at Jambusar, Ankleshwar, and Bharuch in South Gujarat.
At the other end, Congress is planning to gear up their poll campaign by organising public meetings in the state by several Union Ministers and top party leaders. AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that polling for 87 Assembly Constituencies for the first phase of elections will be held on 13th December. Total 1534 Candidates have filed their nomination papers. Nomination papers will be scrutinised on Monday, while the last day for withdrawal of nomination is 28th November.
Filing of nomination papers for the second phase of polling in 95 Assembly Constituencies is continuing till 30th November. Second phase polling will be held on 17th December while counting of votes will be take up on 20th December.
