Campaigning for 1st phase of elections in Jharkhand ends today

In Jharkhand, campaigning for the first phase of elections came to end at 3 p.m. today. In this phase 26 constituencies out of 81 will go to polls on Wednesday. Leaders of different political parties campaigned hard to woo voters in favour of their candidates. Four hundred and seventy candidates including 212 independents are in the fray. 41 observers have been appointed to ensure free and fair polls in the state. Air correspondent reports that all parties raised the issues of good governance and a corruption free government in the state. During the first phase of elections in the state, almost all top ranking leaders of various political parties including Sonia Gandhi, L. K. Adwani. Rahul Gandhi, Rajnath Singh, Lalu Prasad yadav, Ramvilas Paswan, nitish Kumar, Mayawati, Sharad Yadav, Shibu Soren and leaders of left parties campaigned extensively in favour of their respective candidates. In their address to the voters, these leaders mainly focused on the issues of spiraling prices of essential commodities, problem of naxalism and corruption in higher positions with special reference to Madhu Koda in money laundering case. These leaders also tried to convince the electorates that it is only their party which can bring development for the common man by providing a stable and honest government in the state.<br/>
