The campaigning for the first phase of assembly elections in Bihar ends at 5 this evening. 47 constituencies will go to polls in this phase on Thursday. Most of the constituencies are in border areas of the state. Campaigning has reached a feverish pitch in constituencies going to the polls in this phase. Leaders of different political parties are making last ditch efforst to woo the voters. Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani will address election meetings this afternoon at Darbhanga, Motihari and Muzaffarpur. AIR correspondent K.K. Lal reports from Patna that this time all political parties are raising issues of development prominently keeping in mind caste equations and social engineering. Leaders of NDA are exhorting people to cast their votes in favour of their candidates to speed up the development of the state. On the other hand opposition parties including Congress, RJD and LJP are also levelling chrages against the NDA government for its alleged failure on all fronts.
