Campaigning comes to a close on Monday evening for the third phase of assembly elections in West Bengal. Polling will take place on Wednesday in 75 seats spread over three districts of Kolkta, North and South 24 Parganas. over one crore 44 lakh voters will decide the fate of 479 candidates including 46 female candidates in the fray. More than 17,000 polling booths have been set up for smooth conduct of elections. The Election Commission has already appointed S.Srinivasan, the Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha as a Special observer to oversee the poll process, besides 50 general, 11 expenditure and Two Police obeservers. Our correspondent reports that adequate security arrangements are in place to ensure free and fair voting.Meanwhile, one person was killed in post-poll clash at Nanur in Birbhum district on Monday morning, The police have also unearthed an illegal arms factory in South 24 Pargana district ahead of polls on 27th of this month.
