Campaigning ends for final phase of polls in J’khand

In Jharkhand, campaigning ended for the fifth and final phase of assembly elections. In this phase, 290 candidates are in the fray for 16 seats going to poll on Friday. <br/><br/>Around 75,000 jawans and officers are being deployed the highest so far to conduct free, fair and violence free elections. <br/><br/>Joint Chief Electoral officer A.K. Sinha told AIR that over 4500 polling booths will be manned adequately by forces to ward off any untoward incident. <br/><br/>Web cameras will also be installed in Chatra and Chaibasa constituencies to monitor the poll process directly from Ranchi and Delhi Election offices. Counting of votes will be taken up on 23rd of this month. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Election Commission has deputed a senior official to Patna to co-ordinate the security matters.<br/><br/>An official of the Election Commission told AIR that adequate security network is being established in all the districts of Jharkhand bordering Bihar to thwart any Naxal activity on poll day.
