Campaigning for the 6 Lok Sabha seats of North Eastern states and assembly seats of Arunachal Pradesh ended last evening in which polling will be held tomorrow. Polling for one seat in Mizoram has been postponed to 11th of this month.
In Arunachal Pradesh, the stage is set for simultaneous voting for the two Lok Sabha seats and 49 seats of the 60-member State Assembly. Candidates of 11 assembly seats have already been elected unopposed.
They include the Chief Minister, Nabam Tuki. The voting will be held from 7 AM to 5 PM, one hour more than the earlier elections. Both the Lok Sabha constituencies, Arunachal East and Arunachal West, are the key-ones. Arunachal East will see an eight-cornered contest while Arunachal West seat will have a three-cornered fight.
Campaigning for the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha Constituency also ended last evening with political parties and candidates trying to woo the voters till the last minute. More than nine lakh voters will exercise their franchise tomorrow.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling. Altogether 1406 polling stations will be set up and seven thousand polling personnel will be deployed. More than fourteen thousand security personnel including armed force are also being deployed for smooth polling.
