Campaigning concludes for 2nd phase Chhattisgarh Assembly polls

In Chhattisgarh, campaigning for the 72 assembly segments going to polls in the second phase on November 19 came to an end on Sunday evening.

On the last day of electioneering, Congress, BJP and other political parties have put in their best to canvass support for their respective candidates.

In the second phase, as many as 842 candidates, including 75 women, are in the fray.

Security arrangements have been beefed up in the assembly constituencies bordering the forest areas of Odisha and Jharkhand where Maoists have a presence.

Polling parties have already moved to the Maoist affected constituencies in Gariaband, Mahasamund districts and in many constituencies in the northern part of the state.

AIR correspondent reports, with Just one day left for polling, Election officials have geared up to ensure smooth polling in the constituencies which are going to poll on November 19.

Tight security arrangements are in place in all these areas. About 60,000 security personnel have been deployed to ensure free and fair elections.

Security forces conducted a flag march in different cities and towns of the state. Meanwhile search operations have been intensified in the Maoist affected areas.
