Campaign for bye elections gains momentum in AP

In Andhra Pradesh, the campaigning for Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly bye elections is gaining momentum. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations comes to a close this evening. 43 nominations filed for Kadapa Lok Sabha seat have been found to be fit, the election authorities are yet to take a decision on one more nomination.Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who resigned after coming out of Congress party, is seeking re-election from Kadapa Lok sabha Constituency. Among others, State Health Minister D L Ravindra Reddy of ruling Congress party is in the fray while Rajya Sabha Member Mysoora Reddy of Opposition Telugu Desam parties is contesting the bye-election. Among 26 candidates who filed their nominations for Pulivendula Assembly segment, Y S Viajaya lakshmi, widow of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, is seeking re-election while his brother Y S Vivekananda Reddy is also in the fray from Congress side.
