In Utter Pradesh, campaigning for third phase of three tier local body polls ended last evening. Voting will be taking place tomorrow in Aligarh Municipal Corporation and 146 Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayats spread over 20 districts. Our Allahabad correspondent reports that 9 candidates are in contest for Mayoral post for Aligarh Municipal Corporation.A total of 15876 candidates including 6047 women are in fray for phase three poling. Of them, 10 ward members for Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayats have been declared elected unopposed.Massive security arrangements have been made for peaceful polling. The State Election Commission has deployed observers for each poll bound districts to ensure independent polling. The State Election Commissioner has reviewed poll preparedness with observers, concerned Divisional Commissioners, District magistrates and District Police chiefs through video conferencing.
