In Odisha, the nation-wide ''Campaign Clean India' rolled out today on the occasion of World Tourism Day. The campaign is aimed at keeping monuments, temple and heritages sites clean and tourist-friendly.Hotel management students and other stakeholders in the hospitality industry are carrying out massive cleaning activities at world-famous Khandagiri and Udayagiri monuments, and temples of Laxmaneswar in Bhubaneswar today on the occasion of World Tourism Day. Thrust is being given on hygiene and sanitation conditions in and around the monuments, solid waste management around the destinations and hygienically maintained public amenities such as toilets. The Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) is taking steps to adopt energy efficient methods in different projects. It is also promoting solar power and solar water heating systems in its buildings. The tourism department and travel industry of Odisha have showcased a melange of cultural activities at several tourist destinations in the state today. It has also organised beach cleaning programmes in different beaches in Odisha.
