Science fiction epic 'Avatar' has won the best picture prize at the Golden Globe Awards cementing its status as a front-runner for the Oscars. The film also won for James Cameron, the best Director's award. 'The Hangover', was the surprise winner of the Golden Globe for best musical or comedy. The awards were given away in a star studded function in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday. While Meryl Streep won the Golden Globe for the best actress in a musical or comedy for her role in Julie & Julia, Sandra Bullock won the award for the best Actress in drama for The Blind Side. Jeff Bridges won the best drama actor prize for his performance as a washed up country singer in 'Crazy Heart' and Robert Downey Junior won the best actor in musical or comedy for 'Sherlock Holmes'. Golden Globe awards is the opening act in the 2010 awards season and is awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
