Calibrated police action & development to continue in naxal infested areas: HM

Centre is ready to help Naxal affected states to coordinate inter-state operations against Naxals. Making a statement in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday the Home Minister Mr. P Chidambaram said that certain restrictions have been put on paramilitary forces while dealing with naxals where tribal population is living. He asserted that calibrated police action and development will continue in the affected areas. Mr. Chidambarm said that the call to the CPI Maoists for talks was given with the hope that there will be a sincere response from them. He gave the details of the Dantewada massacre to the house and said that the talks with the Maoists can be held if they abjure violence.<br/><br/>Initiating the debate in the two houses the opposition BJP charged the government for being divided on the issue of tackling naxal violence in the country. Leaders of the BJP Mr. Yashwant Sinha in the Lok Sabha and Mr. Arun Jaitley in Rajya Sabha referred to the statements made by several Congress leaders and a Union Minister reflecting difference of opinion. They also blamed the government for not taking concrete and effective steps against the naxals.<br/><br/>Earlier, the two Houses witnessed several adjournments and uproar on the issue. Lok Sabha was adjourned thrice on the issue while Rajya Sabha twice. Earlier both Houses paid tribute to the security personnel killed in the massacre
