CAG to start its 96th International Training Programme on 'Performance Audit' tomorrow

The Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG, of India will start its 96th International Training Programme on 'Performance Audit' tomorrow. The CAG has been organising training programmes in different areas of auditing and accounting since 1979.Thirty-six countries from across Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe are sending their middle and senior-level auditors to learn about performance audits from India's apex government auditor, the CAG. The government said that while compliance and attest audits still are important, the focus has shifted to performance audits, which examine economy, efficiency and effectiveness in the implementation of programmes, projects and schemes. This programme will be attended by 45 officials from 36 nations and Georgia is a new country this time, which takes the total tally of participating nations in such programmes to 122.
