Union Rural Development Minister, Jairam Ramesh has said that the Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG will audit all rural development expenditures in the country from the year 2007 to 2011. Talking to reporters in New Delhi yesterday, Mr. Ramesh said that the performance audit of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, MGNREGA for all the states will be placed before Parliament by the end of the winter session this year. The Minister also said, the audit of Indira Aawas Yojana will also be taken up next year and the audit system will be extended to other schemes gradually.
