The Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG will audit all rural development programmes including Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, MGNREGA for their effective and transparent implementation. Speaking to media-persons in New Delhi on Wednesday, Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said that he held talks with the CAG, Vinod Rai. A panel of Chartered Accountants in each and every district across the country will do financial audit. The Minister said, action taken on the audit report is more important. He said, his priority is to take a stock of the ground reality in the Naxal affected areas and to have a closer look at their problems. He clarified that funds are no constraint but the real problem is lack of administration. Mr. Ramesh said, there are many complaints of delayed payment in MGNERGA. He said the government's campaign for financial inclusion can help in improving infrastructure and talks are being held in this regard with some banks for the appointment of Banking correspondents in remote areas of the country.The Minister informed that government is likely to introduce the Land Acquisition Bill in the coming Monsoon session of Parliament.
