Delhi Government has ordered a thorough scrutiny of the accounts of the three private power distribution company, Discoms by the Comptroller and Auditor General since financial year 2007-08.
Power regulator Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) while announcing 22 per cent increase in tariff last month had also recommended a CAG audit of the accounts of the Discoms. The decision to recommend the CAG audit of the Discoms was taken at a high level meeting attended by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Power Minister Harun Yusuf and top officials of power department.
The DERC had advised the government to get accounts of BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd, BSES Yamuna Power Ltd and NDPL audited by CAG for atleast last three financial years 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10
