In Uttar Pradesh, teams from Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) have started second phase of special audit of the implementation of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in 8 districts of the state. The state government had requested the Centre for conducting the audit of utilisation of funds under NRHM in July this year. The special audit is being conducted in Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Agra, Bulandshahar, Rae Bareli, Kushinagar, Azamgarh and Lucknow districts. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the CAG team is inspecting records and documents of various expenses under the scheme including implementation Janani Surksha Yojna in district hospitals, as well as Community Heath Centres and Primary Health Centres for past two days. According to official sources, CAG began its work on 8th of last month dividing UP in five zones and randomly selecting 24 districts where reports of alleged irregularities have surfaced.
