The Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG, has estimated a loss of more than 1000 crore rupees to the exchequer of Chhattisgarh government in a faulty allotment of coal blocks to a private company in the state. This was disclosed in the CAG reports for the year 2010-11 tabled in Chhattisgarh assembly yesterday. The report said that by allotting coal block to a company at an unusually low rate of quote for 32 years in 2008, the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation incurred a loss of 1,052 crore rupees. The CAG report also pointed out discrepancies in achieving target by the state government under half a dozen of centrally sponsored scheme like Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidhutikaran Yojana, JMNURM, AYUSH and Computerization of the Public Distribution System.
