CAG highlights financial mismanagement in UP

The report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on the finances of Uttar Pradesh has highlighted the financial mismanagement in the state. The Principal Accountant General(PAG) of Uttar Pradesh M.P. Singh has said that during the financial year of 2009-10 , the Government of India directly transferred substantial amount of 13 thousand 710 core and 19 lakh of funds to the Uttar Pradesh implementing agencies for various programmes. The PAG said that there were no single agencies monitoring its use and there were no readily available data on how much was actually spent on different centrally sponsored schemes. The PAG also highlighted another fact about the Uttar Pradesh that there is tendency for huge expenditure at the end of the financial year is a chronic feature of financial management The PAG said that the status of urban health schemes, Implementation of state road fund scheme and programme related to e-governance in Uttar Pradesh was also not satisfactory.
