Cable TV digitization: States have major role to play, says R. Jaya

The state governments have a major role to play in the cable TV digitization process. This was stated by R. Jaya, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in Bhubaneswar in Odisha today. <br/><br/>Inaugurating a workshop on the third phase of cable TV digitization, she said that the state governments stand to be benefited by this exercise in terms of increased tax collection from cable TV subscribers. Briefing the District Nodal Officers and Multi<br/><br/>System Operators of Odisha and West Bengal, Ms. Jaya clarified that the December 2015 target of digitization of cable TV network in all the urban areas of the country has to be realized within the time frame. Revealing that the first two phases of Cable TV digitization in the four Metros and 38 other cities have delivered the desired results, she said that the end-users would get benefits like viewer's choice, clarity of viewing and high speed internet connection through the digitization of cable TV.
