The digitisation of cable TV in all the four metros have achieved an overall 93 percent with the deadline for switch over coming to end tomorrow. The digitisation includes Direct to Home, DTH. The Information and Broadcasting Minsitry in a release said the level of digitization has touched 95 per cent while in Mumbai it is 100 per cent and in Kolkata 85 per cent. In Chennai 86 percent digitization has been achieved.
It said, teams comprising technical professionals, have been constituted to visit the Multi System Operators -MSOs in the four metros. They will visit headends of MSOs, a master facility for receiving television signals for processing and distribution over a cable television system in the metros to cross check and see their preparedness for switchover.
