The Union Cabinet today approved four highway projects in Jammu and Kashmir for all-weather connectivity in the Valley. It has also enhanced fund allocation by over Rs 8,000 crores to around 28,324 crore rupees under the National Highways Development Project for the state. The highways projects are Srinagar-Banihal, Qazigund-Banihal, Chenani-Nashri and Jammu-Udhampur . Sources said the projects will also reduce the journey time from Jammu to Srinagar and strategic border areas in the state besides helping to boost the economy and provide employment potential to locals in project activities.
