Union Cabinet on Saturday gave its nod for imposition of President's rule in Maharashtra.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.

President's rule was necessitated after Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan resigned following Nationalist Congress Party withdrew its support from the coalition.
