Cabinet gives nod for German as additional language in KVs

German will now be taught in Kendriya Vidyalayas as an additional language. An official release said, the Cabinet has given its approval to a Joint Declaration of Intent between Human Resources Development Ministry and Federal Foreign Office of Germany on promotion of German language as an additional foreign language in conformity with the National Education Policy of India. <br/><br/>German was earlier being taught in Kendriya Vidyalayas but last year the Board of Governors of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan decided to discontinue teaching of the language as an option to Sanskrit. The decision had led to much furore and controversy.
