Cabinet has given ex-post facto approval to enhancement of Pension for Freedom Fighters and their eligible dependents. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, Cabinet has approved the proposal to increase freedom fighters' pension by 20 per cent plus DA. The revised scale of pension has taken effect from Independence Day this year. <br/><br/>He said, existing dearness relief system is being replaced by the Dearness Allowance system applicable to Central Government employees. The Minister said, this will benefit all freedom fighters and spouses, dependent parents, pensioners of deceased freedom fighters drawing pension under the Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension Scheme.
