In Karnataka, four BJP and one independent MLA were sworn in on Thursday as part of second Cabinet expansion, taking the total number of Ministers to 27. The new Ministers – Varthur Prakash, Raju Gowda, Anand Asnotikar, Balachandra Jarkiholi and C.P. Yogeshwar were sworn-in by Governor H.R. Bharadwaj in Raj Bhavan in the presence of Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda. A Lokayuktha report on illegal mining had led to resignation of B S Yeddyurappa paving the way for Sadanand Gowda as the new Chief Minister in the State. 21 Ministers were inducted in the first round of cabinet expansion on eighth of this month.
