Briefing reporters in New Delhi after the meeting, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the scheme will cost over 25 thousand crore rupees. He said, the internal security, law and order, women security, weapons procurement, hiring of helicopters and other requirements will be covered under the scheme. He said, the scheme has three thousand core rupees as central assistance for 35 worst Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected districts. <br/><br/>Mr. Singh said, it will also have 100 crore rupees outlay for North Eastern States for police infrastructure up-gradation, training institutes and investigation facilities. The Minister said, the states will get 2.5 times more as compared to the previous provision, under the new scheme. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad termed the scheme as one of the biggest scheme of police modernization. <br/><br/>Mr. Prasad informed that the Cabinet also decided to increase the retirement age of Central government doctors other than Central Health Service (CHS) to 65 years. The decision will benefit around 1445 doctors of various ministries and departments of the Central government. It will also help in better patient care, proper academic activities in medical colleges and more effective implementation of National Health Programmes. The doctors other than CHS had requested for enhancement of age of superannuation on ground of shortage and parity with CHS.
