The Cabinet Committee on Prices is meeting in New Delhi Tuesday evening to take stock of the situation in the wake of rising prices of essential commodities, particularly sugar. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent quoting official sources reports that the committee may approve some measures including easing import norms on raw sugar besides uploading more wheat in the open market to check the rising prices.<br/><br/>The Union Food and Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar has already indicated that his Ministry may move proposals allowing processing of raw sugar lying in Kandla Port, in mills outside Uttar Pradesh. <br/><br/>He also said that the deadline for extension of white sugar import could be extended beyond 31st of March.
