In a landmark decision, the Cabinet on Monday gave a green signal for the Whistle Blower Bill. The Bill provides for prevention of victimization or disciplinary action against those who expose corruption in government and public sector organisations. The Bill called Public Interest Disclosure and Protection for persons making disclosures comes close on the heels of the murder of an activist of Right to Information, Amit Jethwa in Gujarat and Satish Shetty in Pune this year. The Central vigilance Commission, CVC will be the nodal agency to keep the identity of whistleblowers. According to sources, CVC will be given the power to protect the identity of whistleblowers. In case the identity is disclosed, the superiors of the victims will be held responsible. AIR correspondent says that the whistle blower bill is aimed at exposure of corruption in the government sector or the private sector. National Highway Authority of India , Engineer Satyendra Dubey was brutally murdered for raising his voice against the corruption in the Golden Quadrilateral project, and IOC official Manjunath had also fallen prey when he tried to bring to the fore corruption in oil adulteration in a petrol pump in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh.
