Union Cabinet today approved Vijayawada Airport as International Airport which will improve the connectivity of the state and provide wider choice of service at competitive cost to air travelers. <br/><br/>It will also boost domestic and international tourism and socio economic development of Andhra Pradesh. <br/><br/>The decision has been taken as per the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act 2014. <br/><br/>Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has expressed happiness over the Cabinet decision to declare Vijayawada Airport as an International Airport. <br/><br/>In a statement, Mr Naidu said, Andhra Pradesh government had made a request for this and agreed to provide provide the land and the infrastructure would be provided by Airport Authority of India.
