Cabinet approves Rs 500 cr for National War Memorial; Also clears 3 new AIIMS

The Union cabinet has cleared construction of a National War Memorial and Museum near the famed India Gate in the national capital. Briefing reporters in New Delhi Union Minister Nitin Gadkari gave this information.The Cabinet also cleared 3 new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences. It will be established in Nagpur Maharashtra, Manglagiri Andhra Pradesh and Kalyani West Bengal under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. The cost will be nearly 5 thousand crore rupees.<br/><br/>The other important decisions taken by the Cabinet include amendment to double taxation avoidance agreements for prevention of tax evasion which India entered also with Israel and Vietnam. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, the amended agreements are part of the government's efforts to curb black money.<br/><br/>Mr Gadkari said, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved National Watershed Management Project-Neeranchal with an outlay of over two thousand crore rupees.The Neeranchal project of the National Watershed Management has an outlay of 2142 crore rupees. Out of this the Central Government's share is 889 crore rupees while 182 crore rupees will be borne by state governments and 1071 crore rupees loan has been given by the World Bank. These are for nine states.<br/><br/>The Cabinet also approved 78-day wages as productivity-linked bonus for Non Gazetted Railways employees for the last fiscal. About 12 lakh railway employees will be benefited by the decision. In the last three years also, railway employees had got 78-day wages as bonus. Productivity-linked bonus is paid to railway employees each year before the Dussehra festival.
