The Cabinet has approved the recommendations of a Parliamentary panel on civil nuclear liability bill which provide for the three fold increase in the operators liability.The panel has recommended to raise the Liability to 1500 crore rupees in case of a nuclear accident. The decision was taken at the meeting of the Union Cabinet on Friday morning presided over by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.According to the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology the cases have to be settled within three months and in case the victim is not satisfied with the compensation given by the nuclear damage commission, it has the right to approach the High Court or the Supreme Court. The recommendations make it clear that the suppliers liability will be with the operator.AIR correspondent reports the passage of the Bill in Parliament will pave the way for having nuclear commerce with India.Meanwhile, Japanese Foreign Minister is arriving in New Delhi on Friday evening to hold discussions with his Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna to take forward the dialogue on Civil Nuclear Cooperation. The two countries held preliminary discussions on the issue last month.
