Cabinet approves new Seed Bill

The Cabinet approved the new Seed Bill that seeks to check sale of spurious seeds by making registration mandatory for sale of the key farm input. The Seed Bill 2004 was first introduced in 2004 to replace the existing Seed Act of 1966. The new Bill aims to ensure quality of seeds and take care of interest of farmers. It will address concern regarding sowing, use, exchange and sale of seed.<br/><br/>
