The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region for introduction of a new Central Sector Plan Scheme titled “Non -Lapsable Central Pool of Resources”. The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi Thursday evening. The purpose of this proposal is to make funds available for projects which are critical to the development of the north eastern region and are in accordance with national priorities. The scheme will address issues concerning projects having the potential for extensive social and economic impact on the region.Government has also approved the proposal of Agriculture Ministry for setting up of a new company called AGRINDIA for making various agricultural inputs available to the farmers for boosting agriculture. The AGRINDIA will be a registered company fully owned by the government. The company will have a share capital of one hundred crore rupees and initial paid up capital of fifty crore rupees. The company would be made functional within four months. In another decision, cabinet also approved mobility of faculty and non faculty personnel to newly established central educational institutions and scientific institutions for a period up to ten years on deputation basis. This would help the mobility of faculty and key administrative personnel which would in turn facilitate growth of new Central Educational Institutes by way of induction of competent faculty and key administrative persons.
