Cabinet approves National Quantum Mission to scale up scientific & Industrial Research & Development in Quantum Technology

The Centre has approved the National Quantum Mission to accelerate Quantum Technology-led economic growth and leverage India into a leading nation in the sector. A decision in this regard was taken at a Union Cabinet meeting in New Delhi yesterday, April 19.<br />'' <br />''Addressing media after the meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said that the Quantum Mission has been approved at a total cost of over six thousand crore rupees for a period from 2023-24 to 2030-31. Elaborating more on the National Quantum Mission, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the mission will give India a quantum jump in the world arena. He added that there are at present six countries including the USA, Canada, and France which are having quantum technology.  <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Mission would greatly benefit communication, health, financial and energy sectors as well as drug design, and space applications. It will provide a huge boost to national priorities like Digital India, Make in India, Skill India and Stand-up India, Start-up India, Self-reliant India, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The aim of the mission is to seed, nurture and scale up scientific and Industrial Research and Development and create a vibrant and innovative ecosystem in Quantum Technology. </span><br />
