The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved inclusion and amendment of the names of castes and communities in the central list of other backward classes (OBCs).The decision has been taken in respect of states Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan and union territory of Daman and Diu.This will enable these communities and castes to avail the benefits of reservation in the central services and posts besides in central educational institutions.In another decision, the cabinet approved the addition of caste Adrakhi in the central list of OBCs from Bihar. This is based on the recommendations of the National Commission for Backward Classes and gives this community the benefits of reservation.
