Cabinet has approved a capitalisation plan of 2 lakh 11 thousand crores rupees for public sectors banks. <br/><br/>Addressing a press conference in New Delhi this evening, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, the huge spending on infrastructure announced today will give a fillip to private sector investment, direct benefit to MSME and employment. <br/><br/>He said, once the banks are strengthened, appetite for their stock will improve. Mr Jaitley said, Public Sector Banks will catalyse private investments and there is a need to increase public investment. <br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said, various capital infusion measures have been taken by the government to ensure health of Public Sector Banks. He said, it was decided that a bold step needs to be taken by the government to recapitalise banks.<br/><br/>Finance Minister said, the fundamentals of the national economy continue to be strong. He said, India has remained world's fastest growing economy for the last three years. <br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said, structural reforms have short-term impacts but it will help in the medium and long-term. He said, government has decided on the steps necessary to sustain the growth momentum. He said, there has been a consistent low inflation story. He said, real GDP growth average is 7.5 per cent in last 3 years. He said, transformational reforms have been another part of the India growth story. Mr Garg expressed confidence that disinvestment target for this year will exceed. <br/><br/>Finance secretary Ashok Lavasa has said special thrust on development sectors.<br/><br/>He said 83 thousand 677 kilometres roads to be built over next five years and 6.92 lakh crore rupees to be invested. Mr Lavasa said under Bharatmala project 34 thousand 800 km roads to be constructed at a cost of 5 lakh 35 thousand 900 crore rupees.<br/><br/>Mr Lavasa said 9000-kilometre economic corridors to be built and there will be big push to rural connectivity. <br/><br/>Banking secretary Rajiv Kumar said, banks are being strengthened for more jobs, more growth and more investment.
