The Cabinet has approved the proposal of Department of Agriculture to amalgamate State Farm Corporation of India with National Seed Corporation. The move will serve the interests of farmers and the changing requirements of agriculture sector in a more effective way.

The Cabinet also approved that all categories of employees of the government who were absorbed in Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) and opted combined service will be given similar treatment in the matter of payement of pensionary benefits available to absorbed employees of BSNL.
