Cabinet agrees to set up Tribes Advisory Council in Uttarakhand

The Cabinet has approved the proposal for the setting up of Tribes Advisory Council in Uttarakhand. This has been done to look over the social economic development of the scheduled tribe communities in the state. <br/><br/>The Scheduled Tribes population in Uttarakhand is 3.01 per cent of the total population of the state.<br/><br/>In order to clear the backlog of cases pending before the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, the cabinet today gave a go ahead for two additional posts. <br/><br/>According to an offical release one post will be from judicial background and the other from non-judicial area. <br/><br/>At present the Commission consist of the President and nine other members. Our correspondent says that there is an existing back log of 8000 pending cases and the commission receives around 450 fresh cases every month.<br/><br/>The cabinet also gave its nod for the establishment of Central Institute of Himalayan Cultural Studies at Dahung in West Kameng District of Uttaranchal Pradesh. This will be an autonomous institution .
