C-130J to be inducted into IAF

The US made giant multi-mission aircraft C-130J Super Hercules has been inducted in the Indian Airforce. The latest aircraft will sharpen the striking capacity of Indian Airforce as it can airborne day and night to carry out its mission. The aircraft was formally inducted today by Defence Minister A.K.Antony at a special function at Hindon airbas in the outskirts Delhi. AIR correspondent reports that the new fleet is one of the biggest contracts executed so far under Washington's foreign military sales programme. Defence experts say one of the reasons for basing the fleet near Delhi is to cut down the response time in dealing with situations like the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
